How to convert 2D to 3D?
Select any JPG or PNG file (Logos, silhouettes, or photos). High contrast images work best.
D-Studio analyzes the image and generates a heightmap volume using our custom marching cubes algorithm.
Preview your model in real-time and download the .STL file ready for your 3D printer (Slicer).
Why use D-Studio?
🚀 Instant Conversion
No need to install heavy software like Blender or Fusion 360. Everything runs in the cloud.
✨ Smooth Finish Technology
Our premium Gaussian smoothing algorithm eliminates the "blocky" artifacts common in basic converters.
🔒 Secure & Private
We don't store your 3D models. Files are processed in memory and deleted immediately after generation.
🖨️ 3D Printing Ready
Generated meshes are manifold (watertight) and optimized for slicers like Cura, PrusaSlicer, and Bambu Studio.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is D-Studio completely free?
Yes, D-Studio is a free web-based tool. You can generate unlimited standard STL models without any cost. We also offer a "Smooth Finish" mode that applies advanced Gaussian filtering to remove noise and create organic surfaces, perfect for artistic prints.
What types of images work best?
High-contrast images work best. Since the algorithm maps brightness to height (White = High, Black = Low), images with clear separation between subject and background yield the cleanest 3D meshes. Logos, silhouettes, and depth-map textures are ideal candidates.
How do I print a Lithophane?
To create a Lithophane, upload a photo and ensure "Invert Colors" is unchecked (so darker parts are thicker). In your slicer (Cura, PrusaSlicer, etc.), set Infill to 100% and print the model vertically aligned with the Y-axis for the highest resolution. Use white PLA filament for the best light diffusion.
What does the "Threshold" slider do?
The Threshold slider determines the cutoff point for binarization. Pixels brighter than the threshold become solid 3D geometry, while darker pixels become empty space (or vice-versa if inverted). Use the live preview to adjust this until your subject is clearly defined in white.
Is my data private?
Absolutely. D-Studio processes images in real-time. We do not store your uploaded photos or the generated 3D models on our servers. Once you close the tab or refresh the page, all data is wiped from memory ensuring 100% privacy.
Can I use the models for commercial purposes?
Yes. The 3D models generated are derivatives of your original uploaded content. You retain full ownership of the .STL files and can use them for personal projects, commercial 3D printing, or selling digital assets, provided you own the rights to the original image.
